All-Inclusive Resort in Montego Bay – Jamaica

Sandals Resort Montego Bay was Kellin and I’s first all-inclusive resort experience. Everything was included in the price – water sport activities, cocktails, and every meal. The resort was beautiful and we both recommend the oceanfront room. There were also rooms that had swim-up pools which would have been amazing. Wake up, grab a drink, walk out your sliding glass doors, and hop right into the pool – now that’s a vacation.

On the property there were over 10 restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, outdoor hot tubs, swim up bars, a fitness center, and events each night for the guests. The events were a lot of fun because it gave us an opportunity to meet others vacationing at the resort. You can also pay extra for spa treatments and/or private beach dinners which are both offered onsite. Each day there were several water sport activities to choose from – windsurfing, glass-bottom boat tours, standup paddle boarding, and so much more. My favorite activity was the glass-bottom boat tour – do it!

The best part about staying in Montgeo Bay is that there are 3 separate resorts in the city, and you have access to all 3 locations during your stay (everything remains all-inclusive at each resort). This worked out well because Kellin and I saved money by staying at the Montego Bay Resort, but we would hop on the shuttle to the beautiful Royal Caribbean Sandals Resort which was completely renovated in 2016! The Royal Caribbean property was breathtaking, and the restaurant options were much better. Royal Caribbean also offers private over-the-water bungalows that you can stay in with 24-hour butler service. Be prepared to drop some serious $$$ if you plan to stay in the over-the-water bungalows.

My favorite part of the trip was the private island dinner date at the Royal Caribbean property. You take a boat to the resort’s private island, and there are two beautiful open-air restaurants to choose from once you are there. We sat at the outdoor bar while we waited for our reservation and enjoyed a glass of wine.

Overall, the food at all of the restaurants was mediocre; this was the only downfall of our all-inclusive experience. I normally stray from cruises for this same reason, but a couple we met from Miami reassured me that cuisine served on cruises was much better than the food served at both Sandals resorts. I’m not sure that we would choose to stay at Sandals again in the future, but I am glad we experienced the all-inclusive life at least once.
