Top Things To Do In Chiang Mai, Thailand

Kellin and I traveled to several places in Thailand over the span of 4 weeks. Here I’ve listed the top things that we enjoyed during our 4 days in Chiang Mai, Thailand:

  • Wat Chedi Ancient Ruins – Walk around with the monks and visit the many decorated temples that surround the ruins. These temples are considered sacred landmarks to the Thai people.

  • Doi Inthanon – We went on a guided tour to the highest point in Thailand. At one point, we had hiked above the clouds. Oud was our sweet tour guide, and he was the happiest person I’ve ever met. Not kidding!

  • Zip-lining Excursions – These all-day tours can be arranged at the local travel agent shops. Most of these excursions provide your meals and transportation to and from your hotel.
  • Tiger Kingdom – We were enclosed with real tigers. After feeding the big tigers, we were able to play with the baby tigers in the nursery.

  • Elephant Trekking – The country’s best elephant trekking takes place in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The sanctuaries in this particular region are known to take the best care of these gentle giants, allowing them to freely roam on large properties. There are multiple companies that offer this as a day excursion! It’s worth looking into to compare the prices between programs.

That’s a wrap for Northern Thailand. If you plan to backpack to multiple major cities in this country, there will be future posts listing fun activities and hotel recommendations in each city we traveled to.

Blog posts to come: Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Krabi, Koh Samui.
